Rabbit Hunter 6,613
I've got a Nuttall x Wheeler here, he turned 3 in October, he entered early but I would say he didn't mature till he was about 2 years old, had a few good digs to the dog then dug to him baying at scent, gave him another chance and have had some real good digs to the dog since in real testing places...so I think he must have had an 'off' day that day... Guest mk3
true they dont seem to last many seasons mine just started his 3rd before he came unstuck, the ones ive dealt with seem to be hammer shafts and no toungue totally mute, even after numurious digs they still dont bay, but after all this i must say that they are my prefered terrier one that can handle them selfs when things get tough . thats why im trying to bring the new one on now no look so far ha Quote Link to post

Rabbit Hunter 6,613
I've heard a lot of people say that Wheeler dogs are just totally mute... . The one I've been digging to was very hard on his first 3 or 4 digs then started using his mouth and has been a mixer ever since, doesn't mind taking hold but doesn't take un-needed stick which is good... Also just to add I've also heard a lot of lads say they are bad fighters but this dog is rock steady with both dogs and bitches...what's everyone else's views on this line? BBB 7
a good mate of mine had a dog straight off wheeler about 17 years ago. the dog was not mute, he was a good steady grafter ,a good finder, gave tongue till dug to . then he would mix it in the end 'o' the dig. Quote Link to post
