Chaz 6
only repeat the retrieve once or twice keep her keen on "the game" , if you repeat it to often the pup becomes bored and disinterested in the game, give her an hour or two between sessions to keep her fresh and wanting to do it for the reward Quote Link to post

Guest Mass_G3nocide
The dog's trying to control you mate just one of these things where you have to bite your lip and wait for it to mature a bit. Quote Link to post
the monkey slayer 1
treats mate the way forward or leave her for a few weeks and then start again Quote Link to post
flyinbonnie 0
i have exactly the same problem with my 9month old bull greyhound who retrieves balls, toys anything until he caught a rabbit and it was like hunting him to try and get the rabbit back, he was totally ignorant towards me, ive tried taking treats with me and all he wants to do is rag the rabbit all over the field maybe he needs to mature alot more its just so annoying that he is running the lamp perfect and taking rabbits with ease just that part of his trade that is lacking. Not found the cure yet, although making a fuss over it seems to have an adverse effect. Best ignoring it me thinks... She'll grow out of it especially once they realise the countryside holds more than just the one rabbit... Had a dog who ran with a rabbit it his mouth and was on another rabbit trying to catch it with his front paws.. Aye, ain't hunting just the biz!!! Quote Link to post
