Are there as many.....................

Recommended Posts

Only this week I was offered three lurchers, free to good home. There seems to be a huge amount of lurchers around these days for free.

Is this the same in the terrier world, I dont have terriers so am not in tune with the terrier world, ya dont seem to see as many terriers in rescue centers and you would lurchers.

Why is this?????????????

Easier to find homes for terriers with non-hunting familys. Most people would prefer a pet terrier rather than a pet lurcher as they are smaller and require less exercise, easier to manage. ;)

I.L if a man has a dog that's digging there's

no way it will be passed on, and if the dog

is honnest and does his graft properly you

would'nt be able to put a price on it either.

Ya I agree but if a dog turns out to be no good as a worker its much easier to find a pet home for a terrier than a lurcher as the lurcher is higher maintenance. Thats why more lurchers end up in pounds and dog shelters.

not had long dogs(lurchers) for some time now.when i did there was loads about but very few that was any good

every body had a long dog that could take this and that and had pups from them that would do the same.

lads would buy the pups thinking they had a good dog then find out there pup is not up to what they wont and

move them on. in my opinion there's to many lurchers and terriers breed thees days as was then. to easy to

get hold of a dog ane pass it on. all the time you can buy a lurcher or terrier cheep it wont change.

only lads that breed their terriers for work and keep them amoung them selfs the good ones are kept the bad ones go no further.the only time you would get a terrer of well worked stuff is if you know the kads well and they know you will sort them out again when you have a litter .if your geting a terrier off someone you dont know for noting chances are they wont be much good.

Ya I know I believe the same. I was just answering the question to why there are more lurchers in dog shelters. There is more demand for terriers as pets than lurchers. And a lot of people will pass their dogs on to family homes as pets if their no gud in the field. In an ideal working the world the dogs with bad traits (ie the ones that are sh1te) should be taken out of existince so their is no possible way they can pass on bad traits.
