wild rover 548 Posted January 21, 2009 Report Share Posted January 21, 2009 This bitch was bred in 1986 from a Collie/grey/deerhound/grey bitch, the father was a son of Blue, as you can see she bears no resemblance to Blue. She lamped, ferreted, coursed, would not take deer or fox single handed but did when paired up, was a great loyal friend and not bad looking to boot, not the best all rounder but took rabbits on the lamp with ease. Never really tested to the limit, never accounted for high numbers like Blue, capable of 20-30 plus no bother and ran hares with ease, never tested on two out of three, never went hare coursing big style. Nice dog to have around, didn't know you had her in the kennels, good family pet when the kids were small as well. Quote Link to post

whin 463 Posted January 24, 2009 Report Share Posted January 24, 2009 localy in eastlothain most of the dogs were like your bitch lurchr to lurcher then the black country swindle started talking shite and conning people , al the old lines went away aprt from a few hardend campainers , back then it was hares nothing else and roe as localy rabbs were thing on ground at the time still are localy in parts, most of our dogs like the pic you have were running dogs not much hunting ,just walking big stubbles or winter wheat ,hares galore ,not as many now tho in parts roads bypasses lamps and highpoerd rifles take there toll ,regulary caught three with a good wheaton coulored bitch but never bred of her but a good bitch plenty wind for a non saluk type and times change ,good dogs Quote Link to post

These two are from that combination, big variation in colours..and these were tested to the limits, and had stamina to burn Black one 9 years old, her pup 13 months Quote Link to post
