juckler123 707
I used to do a lot of coursing and hard nights lamping and found that with the inclusion of a racehorse suppliment the dogs used to run much better. The stuff i used to use was equivite anyone else used anything like this? Quote Link to post
TOMO 26,503
got to be honest ive never used owt apart from se e and i havnt used that for a few years. but a few weeks ago a friend of this site gave me somthing for race horses called staminar. so i will try this come the start of the season. i think a good balanced diet and plenty of it is the most important thing, mostly raw meat with plenty fat on it , a few vegys. , and some rice , paster , or brown bread . if the dogs had a hard time then they get twice or more of the amount spread over the day. and a good tip if you need to get fluid in to the dog add just add a drop milk or a very watery gravy Quote Link to post
juckler123 707
Hi Tomo the stuff i used was mainly made from sugar beet derivatives and definitely made a difference in the recovery rates of the dogs for hard daytime coursing and it was also inexpensive definitely worth a try one dog a mate of mine had used to go into like a trance state when it was nackered after feeding this suppliment the condition never happened again so perhaps it helps the blood sugars etc anyway definitely woryh a try but i wouldnt use it if the dogs werent getting a lot of hammer Quote Link to post

Do you think this helped pre season in getting your dogs fitter or just a physiological effect gained when fed during the season? It would be good if you could put a link up or the name of the stuff you use Quote Link to post
juckler123 707
The suppliment i used was equavite and if you know your own dogs you know when anything you do alters their abillity especially if your really testing them Quote Link to post

juckler123 707
Yeah [bANNED TEXT] theyd be fitter on the fifth hare instead of the fourth [daytime] and theyd lamp another hour or two and would be quicker getting their tongues in between courses i noticed the same difference when i started feeding lean beef biscuits gravy etc. Quote Link to post

DiStuRBeD 0
hey guys, i have recharge, which is a greyhound supplement that replaces electrolites(sp?) i have not had to use it yet in the field, have used it at home on really hot days to see how the dog takes to it, he reckons its alright i was under the impression that horse supplements were not that good for dogs as they contain higher levels of salt then greyhound supplements, i could be wrong but thats what i read in some greyhound documentation when I was reading up on supplements. The other supplement i was thinking of using was "Feranamo Greyhound" which is a vitamin supplement Betacel and BetaK are another two we have a hot climate here, so i would imagine supplements are more vital here if we hunt during the summer months(someone said to me u guys say its hot when its 25degree celcius, which to us is a nice temp) Quote Link to post

Without doubt Vetsearch are the leading company with regards to research & development for running dogs. Quote Link to post
