spiritofold 0
I have a 3 month old lurcher bitch, a bedlington/whippet X collie/greyhound. Whenever someone comes to the door, she goes mad with excitement, and wants to jump up at them. Its quite common for her to p*ss at the same time, i guess where she's so excited. I took her inside a petshop today, and walking past some people she done the same thing again, jumping up and leaving her mark.... Its the same when we are out in the country walking, as soon as someone comes near she goes mad with excitement! Its becoming a bit of a pain so what do you reckon should be the course of action to stop this happening? Andy Edited January 20, 2009 by spiritofold

JPTfellterrier 65
i dont know about out on a walk but i watched a program where the dog did the exact same thing, they invited loads of diffrent people to the house and the people who visited had to go straight in the door and not even look at the dog or give it any fuss until they had been in the house long enough for the dog to calm down, they would then give the dog a treat and a quiet stroke and then ignor the dog again i would probably get a clicker and try the same thing in public, when someone comes past and she gets all exicted just make her walk on and say NO then when she starts walking again like normal click the clicker and reward her.....i watch too much tele hehe shes probably just a silly puppy, im sure she will calm down with age

gnasher16 30,271
My belief on this has always been that it is certainly an excitement thing ( the piss that is ) but its also a slight fear thing as well.........ive seen dogs in exciting moments that certainly didnt piss themself !....yet the same dog in a different but still exciting situation may well piss a little.....just my thoughts i may be wrong, just something ive noticed over time. Just as an example....does the dog piss when you wave a food bowl in front of him ? no i doubt it,but still an exciting situation...less the slight fear of course.
