I would be very helpful if anyone could give me advice on getting into falconry and how i go about it and if there is any other advice any of use could give me it would be very grateful Quote Link to post

I would be very helpful if anyone could give me advice on getting into falconry and how i go about it and if there is any other advice any of use could give me it would be very grateful Hi mate, one of the best ways to get experience in Falconry and Birds of prey in general in voluntary work, is it a centre you are going out hunting with? if so its maybe worth asking them if they are looking for any weekend help, alot of them are glad of it, be prepared to start at the bottom though mucking out cleaning etc it wont all be flying and handling birds but what you will pick up along the way will amaze you, there are other things you may want to consider aswell such as the LANTRA beggining falconry award which if a complete novice will give you a sound knowlege base on general bird management to build on, in the meantime if the Hunting day you are going on is with a reputable place you should have a good day and ask as many questions as you want and glean as much information from them as you can, hope this has been of some use. Foxy cheers mate for the advice and it is a bird of prey centre i am going to the only thing it would be rather tricky to help out on a weekend as it is some distance away from where i live but the LANTRA course sounds good thanks for the help much appreciated Quote Link to post

The award at the end of the course is assessed by LANTRA but the course you'll do will be arranged and set by the centre you attend. Hope you enjoy it Quote Link to post
