They're not as rare as they used to be, but they are still a protected species. i dont kill them with the dogs anyway mate i have had my ferrets wipped out by a dog that i have had in the past ripping the fronts of cages for ferrets . its not the thing to do with dogs if the have ferrets even if you dont use all your dogs for ferreting but keep them at the same place. i was devod when i whent to go ferreting. i know they use to be protected but with the anount you see in some places though they whouldnt be anymore. are the wild ones bigger becouse most of the ones we see on some of my mates premishion are monsters not as big as a fox though. rapskee 8
my bull x is fine with my moms cat as long as it dont get in her way.......but any cat seen when we are out she goes for it..... So why let it go for the cat....dogs should be broke to cats....simple! and you wonder why bull x's get a bad name. As for the fellah who slipped on the Polecat....you must be very proud of your dog whats next on the list of your quarry species hamsters! pwwaaa wots next on the quarry list..... Quote Link to post
sikastag_1 689
aint being funny mate but i cant see how a polecat can be mistakin for a fox if i cant 100% identify something on the lamp then you can usually tell by the eye colour and how far apart the eyes are and there will be a big difference in eye gap between a polecat and a fox, even the way it moved if there was young badger cubs running about maybe just maybe it could be mistakin for 1 of them but not a fox, height off the ground and the way it moved with the gap between the eyes would have told me it wasnt a fox but thats just my opinion. undisputed 1,664
Ive lamped several polcat's/lost ferret's..??? over the year's and it's suprising how bright there eye's glow for such a small animal..and at a distance i dont see why they can not be mistaken for something bigger especialy when in cover..But i must admit the ones i have spied in the past where a bit low to the ground to be mistaken for old reynard.. .. Millet I've done the same mate but I would never think of slipping my dog on one....and if he cant tell the difference from 80yards then he shouldn't be lamping imo Quote Link to post
