MRD 3
Me and a mate had a drunked conversation in the Pub a while back about if ..... a kept Pigeon ie Tumbler, Racer, Tippler, Fan Tail can breed with a Wood pigeon? A old chap sat not too far from us ear wigging said he had Racing Pigeons for over 25 years and once had a similar conversation an It can't be done as ther 2 different types of Pigeons. What do you guys think? MRD. Edited January 19, 2009 by MRD

I thought a few more people would have something to say about this? I can't see any reason why you would want to breed these types but could it be done?

iamduvern 62
Have a read of "Posthumous Works Of Charles Otis Whitman" and the Treroinae Pigeon which would suggest cross breeding would be possable

amroth29 0
never thought about it , i breed birds and you can create a lot of different hybrids in captivity - eg goldfinch , redpoll, grenfinch, bullfinch (hen only) etc, all hybridise in an controlled enviroment , you can cross a lot of foreign finches and also some softbills too ,but i dont know about pigeons i'll have to find out. MRD 3
I also did see the River Cottage program I think it was the passing racers and ferel pigeons that were breeding with his whites not Woodys? I think they may be a experiment coming as i've quite a lot of good sitting hen fantails and racers I did think of doing this some time ago just to see if it can be done. Thanks for nthe replys, let us know if anyone finds anything out. (I know this is going to stick in peoples heads!) MRD.
