im cooking dinner for friends of mine this friday and they are repulced by the fact i eat wild animals(espicaly pigeon).so iv decided i'm going to give them a little treat and cook them some woody for starter and not tell them what it is :whistling: .im just wondering if anyone knows a light enough pigeon dish?cant be too heavy as there will be a main course and starter too.

I assume you have hung them for a bit and de-breasted them.

 

Soak them in a mixture of milk and water overnight. Should take away most of the game taste. Drain and use your recipe of choice.

 

Hope you convert then. Second time around, dont soak them.

thanks for all those :clapper: .and yes theyv been hung for 2 days n the breasts removed,iv had bita practice there.i mite try the soaking them in milky water tip,never heard that before..i think im going to do the pigeon wraped in bacon on a bed of mixed salad with some balsamic vinigar(small portions of corse).simple and easy :D ..cant waite to see there reactions after iv told them ;) .thanks again

Saute them with a little chopped shallot, butter and balsamic vinegar. Serve with Oatcakes or a couple of soldiers of toast.

Now that sounds bloody lovely! Where do you live, I'll be round for dinner tomorrow!!!

 

This is the best one I have found yetI wouldnt soak it in milk, whats the point in having pigeon if your trying to do away with the game taste....? You might as well cook crappy chicken from tesco if your going to do that.

 

The point is he's trying to convert people to Game so doesn't want it too full on! plus it's free, wild and healthy!!!

iv gta say it was a success :clapper: ..out of the 3 people.1 realy liked it and had no problem with the fact it was pigeon and the other 1 didnt get sick so that was a plus haha.but i still dont reakon there guna be ringing me asking for some fresh pigeon just yet.
