we left here at 6.45 this morning and it wasnt the best to say the least.we got half way through the journey to our permission and the snow came (could this get any worse).anyway arrived at one of the other farms we have permission on,after a quick word with the farmer we got the gear and went on our way.we got to the gate just at the side of the farm house to be greeted with a stack of rabbits and pheasants all over the field.we let the dogs chase them but that came to nothing.so we went onto another field to see if we could locate where these rabbits were going, but again to no avail.the ground we were walking was more like marsh land than farm land so made for hard going for me and john.after walking a few more rabbits up we decided to cut our losses and bugger off to the other permission where we had eleven rabbits from on thursday.a quick phonecall to the farmer and we were on our way.we arrived at the farm to be greeted by more snow and not a rabbit to be seen.i was quietly confident that we were gonna bag but we were gonna have to work hard for our prize.first sett we done was about ten holes.johns ferret (i think) got a kill straight awayluckily my jill was down with her ,so the ferret was located and the rabbit dug,.the ferrets were staying down the sett moving rabbits about but they wouldnt budge.so collar on the big dog and in he went,he was in for a few minuites and bang ,one rabbit bolted..then shortly after another.we were at the sett for a good while longer waiting for the ferret to bolt another, but he didnt.he came back out with his feet covered in fur.so we boxed him back up,took the nets off and went,by this time it was bleeting down with snow and wasnt looking too favourable.we tried another couple of setts bt there was no joy at these either so we decided to call it a day.on the way back to the van we seen a couple of rabbits run up a bank and dissapear.johns dog made a quick exit from us and was going mad at a stone wall.we decided to leave our gear on the bankside and go and see what was going on.after a bit of an inspection we could see the rabbit lodged in the wall.i removes a couple of stones and extracted the rabbit and quickly dispatched it.a really slow day and only four rabbits to show for all our hard work, but as usual we had a good laugh
