doga 50
undispute thats a niave statement mate its not always the owner believe me i had two hancocks one was alrite the other no more wind than a greyhound , any way this is how i look at things and many others ,you breed dogs of good bitches good dogs ,coli types ,you look for good retreiving ability natural vigour , see the lines of the dog , the beardie bitch cross was fine the border three qaurter two hares and he was done, a dozen rabbs he was done even when fit , to me lurcher breeding is a bit more than throwing any colli to any greyhound unworked , when i got two the feild trails then i saw realy decent dogs as good as mines and better ,so i thought well time to move on and 16 years later ive no complaints i wonder for the type of land i hunt how many hanckock dogs would i had ,as it aint no fun if a dog blows up after two big hare chases or a dozen or more rabbs or half a dozen roe chases , were i live i couldnt afford to go down the road of any colli and any greyhound, saw lots of good bred working colli lurchers owned a few ,saw a few ,you never find a dogs good pionts untill fully tested ,on all game all over , i suppose we lok for diffrent things in a dog ,but cantsee the piont of buying of untried dogs ,and most dogs with half grew or three qaurt grew will catch a rabb ,its when you ask for more and have the game to test it then it sorts the dogs out , i give a dog two seasons then if its not doing it for me well good nite or a pet home, we are all diffrent , win to get your self down the line 16 years later wich in producing a line is not a lot, mother and daughter.tested.how many pups produced and sold and how much wastage and how would you find enough folk to take rear and test pups and report back to see if litters have done well.in 14 years i had mother and father tested union 7 year old pup bought on and tryed and tested till 6 years old only sold 2 pups the rest given out to folk i new all did well except for the 2 sold i had no feed back so carnt vouch for those were beardie crosses.what im saying is win haw many pups produced how many made the grade how much wastage also you must live on a small holding to keep so much stock other folk dont have that kind of room.so then would you sell your pups as being garanteed better than a pup produced at hancocks.also would you vet the person coming for the pup could be another incompetant to give you a bad name.al the best doga. border lad 1,047
I'm sorry guys but breading does have a part to play but TRAINING AND ENTERING a dog to its quarry is everything !!!ATB anythingoes Breeding is very important, I have a pup, now he is 5 month only he is what I call a Rabbit dog, greyhound whippet x bedlington, greyhound, he will have a ball of speed, but believe, me, there is not much upstairs, does not matter how good a trainer you are, you can not put brain there, I have him jumping small obstacles, he jumps very nicely, he can go through the fence nicely, by twisting his body, and he is carrying back to me, I am out for a walk, every day with him, trying to school him, But he has a dour, stubborn streak, and I know with in my heart of hearts, I am wasting my time, yes he is only 5 month, and there is time yet, but I see signs, that I do not like, I was looking for a collie x went around all of my old cronies, looking for a pup none, IT seems that in Scotland, they have given up breeding collie x and moved over to the Saluki x and then the bullx, sorry those two breeds are not for me, so I bought this old breed, which was the Miners, who liked this type of dog, sure he will knock a rabbit over with ease, but I want a dog to do a bit more, and enjoy his company too, and that is how I met Whin, and it was a pleasure for me to go and see his dogs, I believe he also has a good Grew, a Bitch, and a Hunting friend of Whins, Micky Richardson, has a good beardie x greyhound, if you mated those two type of dogs together you have a very usefull lurcher which I am sure would interest a lot of people, with that type of breeding you have a base to work from, and more.
