Malt 379
It turns out you maybe entitled to a little known payment called Child tax relief credit. The government has been keeping this quiet, but a lot of people are entitled to claim this tax relief, but the deadline is 31st of this month. I've copied the following from the Tax credit website: You are eligible to claim £529 allowance if: * You have a child born between 6th April 1986 and 5th April 2003. * The child lived with you for all or part of 2002/2003. * You worked and paid tax for all or part of 2002/2003. You are eligible to claim £1,048 allowance if: You can answer yes to the above questions and one of your children was born between 6th April 2002 and 5th April 2003. The full info on it con be found here: Child tax relief credit Sneeky buggers have kept quiet about this one.

Netter 0
Sounds like a dodge mate, It doesn't say anything about it on the main HM Revenue & Customs page. Also if you try to contact them, it gives you an email and one 0800 number. I wouldn't fill it in. Edited January 18, 2009 by Netter

Kay 3,709
What will happen? Once we receive your claim, we will liaise with the Inland Revenue to determine whether you are eligible for the rebate. When this is confirmed, the value of your rebate will be calculated and sent to you by cheque. Please note, The Entitlements Agency will retain any interest and £94exc vat for processing and administration. think your correct netter looks like one of these companys who claim stuff on your behalf, well if thats the case just ring the inland revene & ask them for a claim form & cut out the middle man & save yoursef 96 quid in costs

Kay 3,709
This is what you need to fill in from the inland revenue site http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/forms/11ctc.pdf

The scheme was in place before the current tax credit system, but most people didn't know about it. It's HMRC, so how could it be dodgy anyway? If you meet the criteria, what have you got to loose? It's not as if it's a scheme run by the Reader Digest, or those crappy scratch cards you get with the paper, where everybody wins! Fact is, the government don't tell you what you're entitled to, it's up to you to find out then ask for it.

tdavepat 8
I hate scrounging f'ers, but my wife came home from work a couple of weeks ago and said her boss told her to look into a claim. She phoned our tax office and they told her the biggest tax payer should make the claim. They confirmed I was eligible and sent the forms for me to fill in. I'm now waiting a 500 quid rebate.
