Interesting day out

Hi Folks,

went out this morning on one of my permissions, bit of snow on the high ground & a bit of a wind.

 

Found the holes I wanted to do, netted up, entered the hob.........................................

 

45 mins later with no rabbits so far I got the mk3 out, started searching ended up about 10ft away from the entry hole, now initially the locator was showing 4ft. Got the shovel, 3" down hit rock!!!

 

Put my ear to the hole & I could hear him but could also hear water - wtf!!

 

Checked again with the locator & now it was bouncing between 2ft and 8ft!!

 

The only reason I can think for this was the type of stone.

 

Started snowing so thought, sod it, arm down hole into running water (not much/deep) grabs ferret & pulls him out, then on way down to entrance hole the Mrs noticed there was a rabbit in the net (never noticed it when trying to get hob out).

 

After that we thought, sod it, couldn't see much for snow & decided to head back down, which was eventful to say the least.

 

The Mrs decided to slip, fall on her arse & crack her ribs off the frret box in the end I had to carry everything, including the Mrs back to the car!

 

Conclusion of the story - the Mrs needs some wellies that have got some good grips/lesson in walking down hill AND I won't be ferreting where there is potential for underground streams/ wierd rock!!

 

Now back in the warm I can laugh about it

Big bags are not always the reason I go ferreting, some times its just nice to escape the hustle and bustle of life, and grab some food for the team, you'll also have another tale to tell down at your local watering hole.

We had a right comedy of errors yesterday as well ,the best was me slipping and sumersaulting down a banking . We got five rabbits i dont think we deserved for our performance
