gnipper 6,410
You were lucky there. A mate of mine was hit in the eye by a piece of clay pigeon in the second he lifted his safety shades to look at something when he was away from the stand and it popped his eye, after numerous operations, filling it with oil and silicone and hours on end of sitting face down resting his head on a table he can only see a bit out of the eye but thats better than no eye. I've come close when I was a kid and being stupid with air rifles, just coz theres no gun powder in them doesn't mean they aren't feckin dangerous. Hopefully your eyes sorted soon. borntoshoot 1
sorry to hear that. a mate of mine got hit in the eye by a stupid kid shooting boileys at us.hes had 3 operations and a lot of pain(the boiley was the same size as his eye) his sight is still blurry and if i look through his rifle scope to me its blurry but to him its not. I did the same thing as you when i shot a bit of wood to sight my air rifle and the pellet hit me just below the eye.how lucky was that. hope your sight gets better soon. Geoff.C 0
A bit "after the horse has bolted" I know. But just for information, before a clay shoot recently, I loosed a couple of barrels of No6 shot at some safety glasses. Just put loads of dimples in the lenses, but otherwise ok. They were the widely available type, that will slip over your prescription glasses if you need them to. All the D-I-Y shops like B&Q have them, usually about £3. These would be ok if using a shot gun, but may be a problem with a tele-sight on a air rifle. They would definitely stop a ricochet though.
hound 1
glad t hear your eye is getting better, these things happen so easy. a mate lost his left eye a couple of years ago he was hammering in a 6" nail and it flicked up and hit him in the eye.
