Edd_Wiltshire 9
Hi All, Just an update on my youngster Dante. After getting his first rabbit just before new years eve, then his first Hare retrieval a week after, we finally had some softer ground and so we hit the fields this week. Monday i went out with a friend and much to my annoyance my lamp failed(Lightforce cruddy wiring!!!) so we stopped catching nothing. Then fixed the problem and went out Tuesday on my tod, the moon was huge and there was no wind but we still managed 2 which I was more than happy with, mainly due to the fact that he was running a lot smarter, running out of the beam to get the best angle and also the second rabbit was near to the hedge so he cut inside to make him run into the field. Also realised its a lot more tiring being out on your own and doing everything, thanks god I only had 2 to carry! Then I went out last night as I couldn’t resist, finally some wind, cloud cover and a little rain for good measure! The night started well with him catching after a really good course, turned him inside out and then he nailed it, sometimes I swear he waits till it’s almost gotten into the hedge just to keep my nerves jangling! After coming across a couple of foxes i had feared that we would catch any more but luckily there were more to be had, a couple of young ones that didn’t put up much resistance but one more really good catch where he showed his fitness despite being young, impressing my mate who hadn’t seen him work before. All in all an enjoyable few hours! Here are some pictures, most impressed with his first hare retrieval after my mate’s skill with his rifle. Cheers. I hope everyone else is having a laugh out there. Edd Him with his first ever rabbit, posted before but i couldn’t resist! Dante with last nights 4. Dante with his first retrieval. Dante modelling his Christmas fleece, what a tart! Edd_Wiltshire 9
Nah i am in Wiltshire, bought the fleece from Equafleece, i only use it when its cold and we are standing around for ages, it was a godsend at the boxing day meet!!! Yeah he coat has a real sheed but as you say, doesnt keep him warm. As for the floor, its my own place so if my mum started complaining i would tell her where to go!!! In all fairness my girlfirend wasnt too impressed but thats what hard floors are for, you can clean them easy. The hare was shot, but it did run a fair way before the gun brought it to a halt. Going to give him a rest for the weekend and seek some new permission. Quote Link to post

Edd_Wiltshire 9
He is only 8 months old. I am limiting the amount of time i take him out on the lamp so he doesn’t get burnt out! If it was up to him he would be out all night every night and sleep all day, he would end up nocturnal! Quote Link to post
