Meerihunter 7
Interestingly she only opens up on scent (fresh scent) and she will not actually visually in pursuit. She is half Rillington so has some Lakland in her away back, I often wonder if she has beagle in lol, as she has huge ears and vertical tail flagpole carriage. Quote Link to post
Neal 1,874
I use a pure kelpie bitch but I'm lucky in that she's very small for a kelpie ie only about 17". The big benefits are the nose and tenacity coupled with obedience. I also have her great great uncle who's a great bushing dog but being a couple of inches taller isn't quite as fleet of foot through the brambles. Her half sister is the tallest of my three and does the lurcher role of standing outside, waiting for a bolt. She hasn't realised that she's not fast enough to consistantly catch in the open. bigdan 11
lurchers are to big for bushing i dont like spaniels either i flush to lurcher a small lurcher wippet x the best in my opinion i have a saluki x pup at minute for other things she will take flush rabbit with eas but a 3/4 wippet 1/4 beddy or collie is what you want i use my lurchers around the bush not in it terriers all the way ive got cocker in mine there cocker/pat/lakeland then her daughter to a russel/norfic beagle is a good x but if he can get a cockerxpat thats my next terrier brilliant at bushing a friend of mine has a lakeland out of good digging stock will only bush foxes not interested in rabbit and when bushing dont go to ground she's middleton lines i also know people with pats that dont go to ground Quote Link to post
