new ferreter

Recommended Posts

wanting to get my first ferrets, two jills preferably, would i be best getting them from being kits or trying to get hold of some that may be a year old allready? they will be for working i got my first permission about a month or two ago and its a golf course and almost impossible to lamp them , their gone soon as you put the lamp on , the warrens surround the course in the bankings on the outside edge of the permission, went down tonight to have a look just as it was getting dark ther must have been over fifty they just ran straight for the banking.

if your stood on the course theirs a fence with a hedge running along the boundary and on the other side is the banking more hedge then a main road

Where are you fishbomb? a good idea is maybe to find someone local to you arrange a couple of days out which will give you a good start on thinning the numbers down, also it will give you a bit of experience with the ferrets and ferreting too.

You will be lucky dropping on GOOD working ferrets at any time of the year, never mind during the season.

thanks for the comments, all good advice well i will get some adults when ive got all the living quarters sorted, been looking into it for a while but havnt wanted to rush into it get some ferrets and then realise it isnt for me!!

i have been lucky enough to get out with some one and ive really enjoyed it been given advice from him and told what to do and not to do, i plan on doing more of it and hopefully get some more permission.

really could do with getting out with more to get as much tutoring as possible nothing better than one to one thought about getting a long net just to close em in. if anybody wants to come and show me how its done or would take me out on their permission would be appreciated!!
