bill88 6 Posted January 14, 2009 Report Share Posted January 14, 2009 Just wondered if there were any plumbers/heating engineers on here that could help me wih a little prob.I'm tiling and fitting a new bathroom suite for my beloved,thing i'm stuck on is how to isolate the hot water supply ?? Can anyone help ? last time i id some work on the kitchen i had to drain the hot water tank and seeing as im on a water meter and Scottish it hurt! herefordian 11 Posted January 14, 2009 Report Share Posted January 14, 2009 It all depends on what system youve got, if its a combi boiler just turn off mains if its gravity fed system there should be a gate valve on the cold feed from cold water storage tank to cylinder, it will enter cylinder near the bottom, turn that off clockwise and thatl stop your hot water, hope this helps Quote Link to post Share on other sites
redeye jedi 39 Posted January 14, 2009 Report Share Posted January 14, 2009 depends on what kind of system your on, i did a bit of plumbing, 15 years ago and ive forgotten more than i know lol. turn off your hot water and central heating, go into your cupboard find the gate valve and turn it off. go into bathroom and try the tap. if its not off try another. if that dont work, tie up the ballvalve in the large tank in your loft and drain your tank. bill88 6 Posted January 14, 2009 Author Report Share Posted January 14, 2009 Right ive had a quick look in the airing cupboard.Theres pipes everywhere Theres a pipe coming out of the left side of the cylinder at the bottom,it is a smaller diameter pipe to all the others and has a stop cock on it just before it joins the pipe coming out the top of the pump.Am i making sense ? or would a pic help ?
