there should be a gate valve running from your tank to your cylinder if not looks like your water bill gonna be a bigun ;)

It all depends on what system youve got, if its a combi boiler just turn off mains if its gravity fed system there should be a gate valve on the cold feed from cold water storage tank to cylinder, it will enter cylinder near the bottom, turn that off clockwise and thatl stop your hot water, hope this helps

depends on what kind of system your on, i did a bit of plumbing, 15 years ago and ive forgotten more than i know lol. turn off your hot water and central heating, go into your cupboard find the gate valve and turn it off. go into bathroom and try the tap. if its not off try another. if that dont work, tie up the ballvalve in the large tank in your loft and drain your tank.

the guy said it was a tank mate , if no gate valve you can get tank bungs from plumb centre just open your tank lid and place it in the cold feed which is the bottom connection ;)

he dont need to tie it up as he needs to shut the cold water off anyway ;)

thats your heating mate the cold feed will be in either 28mm or 22mm pipe it will not connect to any other pipe in your cupbourd it will go straight up from cylinder to tank

Right i think i've got it.Pipe comes out of the bottom of the cylinder and has a drain valve on it,it goe's stright up to a gate valve ? (big red tap) then up into the attic. Is that the fella i'm looking for and what happens when i turn it off ? will it stop the hot water getting to the taps,or will i still have to drain the cylinder/tank.I feel like a right thick twat but i dont do plumbing lol
