Malt 379
Has anybody else seen this? What they're trying to do, is bring in legislation so that you have to record all your catches, and impose bag limits. How they're going to police it, I've no idea. I suppose it will give the coppers a break from nicking motorists and sending helicopters after people taking their dogs for a run... There's a good article on it here: World sea fishing Quote Link to post
mad al 146
Another fine example of "don't do as I do, do as I tell you" Mal Quote Link to post

Little Butch 16
I just fail to see where the Government comes from with half of their decisions.. I know they're Townies and not used to Country life etc but surely anybody with an ounce of common sense would make a better decisions? nelson1 1
I think a sea fishing rod licence is on the cards, there was talk about this last year NFSA members were given talks to fishing clubs up an down the country watch this space Quote Link to post
Shooter08 0
I Was In a Club Last Year But Quit Because Of All The Bickering & Cheats, The Last Meeting We Had, a Group Was Trying To Close Of All Fishing On Cliff Tops & Bottoms From Sewerby Steps Right Untill End Of Bempton Cliffs, & That Is Quite a Fair Few Miles Because Of Birds Not Getting Enough Fish For Their Young When They Nest, And They Was Trying To Close Off Miles Down Coast Near Mappleton Down That Way Because There Is Supposedly a Reef That Is Getting Hacked Away By Sea Anglers... ? Sea Anglers Dont Do Half As Much As The Big Commercial Trawlers Out There, Last Year Was Absolute W**k For Mackeral & Whiting Because Without a Doubt There Is a French Trawler In Our Bay Taking Under Size Fish, They Got Fined So Many Hundred Thousand Pound For It Last Year, Still Always There Though... I recall reading somewhere, that you'd also be responsible for tagging any species like tope, before you release it back! Quote Link to post
droid 11
How they're going to police it, I've no idea. The freshwater licenses are hardly enforced. Had my license checked twice in 15 years. Quote Link to post
Little Butch 16
I thought the Idea of a Sea Fishing license was scrapped? I'd refuse to buy one If It ever came In.. Total sh*t and unforcable (reminds me of another 'ban' ) Butch Quote Link to post

Had my license checked twice in 15 years. This is different to a rod licence Dave. What they're on about, is putting recreational anglers on a par with commercial fishermen. If you own a small boat, dingy or even a raft and take it out just once a year pleasure fishing, you'd be required to buy the same type of license as a trawler. Quote Link to post
droid 11
Just read your link Mal. The proposal is utter bollocks, but what else do you expect when the EU dabbles in anything to do with Science? I went shore fishing at least once a week for several years when I lived in the North East.....caught bugger all. Not much of a risk to fish stocks there..... Quote Link to post
redeye jedi 39
its because of these foriegn fisherman taking under size fish that our sport is in such a bad state. i fished the cliffs in bridlngton last year, it was the first time id fished there for years i was shocked at what little people were catching. even the chater boats i went on were hit and miss. no one these days will pay f**k all to fish from the shore in our country! stop these foreign invaders taking our fish and id gladly pay. Little Butch 16
Completely off topic but.. That must take you f*ckin' ages to write every word starting with a Capital letter?! Butch Quote Link to post
