Guest whitser
regardless of what you want to do and how you want to do looking for someone on the internet to take you outwont be a good idea, he'll either be a pervert or a fool. the area your in is the fcuking hunting heartland of ireland. there's more packs in cork and limerick then the rest of the country. get in touch with local hunts and hunters and take it from there. my advice now is buy a lurcher, forget about digging terriers for now. spend some time hunting the area with your lurcher and terriers in the cover and soon enough you'll get to know lads from around who'll take you out digging. crawl before you walk. That seems like a good idea lad thanks for the advice. I guess i need to network more and just try and get out there and meet people. I might ask at my nearest hunt shop if they could point me towards experienced sound lads. I must go to a few fairs this year too. Only trouble now is trying to decide what lurcher to get. Thanks whitser. Mike Quote Link to post

No i will be holding on to him for bushing regardless of his digging abilities. Give me a whippet for him and I might change my mind. Quote Link to post

But to be honest the dog I have would be ideal out with a lurcher to flush to them so Id be slow to part with him. Quote Link to post

Guest Countryboyo
Ah Im not im just anxious to get going with the hunting. Bushing is grand but id prefer to get going with a lurcher and maybe bit of digging and id like to be shown the ropes. Im 23 now and no job at the moment unfortunately. Did auctioneering in college and it now happens to be the worst possible time to be in this line of work. How about yourself? Quote Link to post

Like id hate to take the risk digging to the dog myself because he works well for me with the bushing and ive had him six years id hate to loose him which could happen because I wouldnt have a clue what I was doing. Like I cant see why people wouldnt let me go out with them for a day. Im sure I will get an offer sooner or later. Feckit id love to try him out just to give him a go. Quote Link to post
