hi guys, i havn't posted in here for a while so i thought i would put this up and see if any of you lads have come across this before , well i aint been out for the last 10 nights lamping because i have got SOUNDER and SPORTING SHOOTER coming over to stay for a few days next week so i thought i would leave them a few to shoot :whistling: not that we have got loads.

anyway i had a call from a mate saying that he has been paid a visit every night for the last week by charlie and has been ripping holes in his polly tunnels, umm strange. i thought he said that its done that much damage that he has to recover one of the tunnels .

so after putting the phone down i then phoned one of my other mates who i do most of my lamping with asking if he could make it out with me yes he said so we arranged a time for 8pm i picked him up at 8pm and set off up the road to where we wanted to be just before we got there , i pulled over and racked up and we swapped so i could lamp and shoot.

off we set again we had just pulled in the field where the fox had been doing the damage and there he was at the right side of the polly tunnel he was off like a rocket, i said to chris he knows the score so we drove to the bottom of the field and lamped across to the right where the fox was he had gone out the field where we were and into the next field which was rough and over grown .

we picked him up in the middle of the field again he was off like a rocket towards the right side of the field so i jumped out the truck got on the bonnet with the bipod waiting for him to show himself again. we switched the lamp off and put the U CALLER on to the vixen call ,gave it a minute and put the lamp on and there he was just sticking his head out the dyke looking towards us .

i put the cross hairs on his throat and pulled the trigger BANG he was down . nice shot wag said chris he was a good distance he said , yep he sure was i said. then i said you will soon find out how far he is because i aint got wellies on and you have, so it looks like your fetching him, he replied thanks your a good un .

anyway when he got back he said how far do you reckon ,oh i said about 210 .he said not far out 227 yards and it was a head shot yep i said ,i know because thats all i could see , i then asked chris what it was he replied a good size dog fox also a old one .

so has anyone else ever heard of foxes ripping polly tunnels before when there is nothing inside of them

One strange old Fox, they say dementia sets in when you get to a certain age :whistling:

He looks in grand condition, and seems he was just trying to get his teeth into some of the appetizing chicken shit

Good Head shot, was that with the .243, the new baby?

Getting excited now :D :D

You got it dirty then

TBH, I don't like Remington Ammo, never has seemed to work well in my Guns, rimmy or centre. If you can get them, try 58gr Hornady V-MAX

yes i got it dirty :(

i have just been doing some reading about them ,i will get some next time i fetch some amo , i got to use this 40 up first ,i cant keep going fetching loads of amo and keep putting it down to the farm or he will stop paying for them for me :whistling: ..

Good going, nice big fox and a good shot too.

Re ammo, I also use the Remington stuff at the moment, seems OK in the RWS. As and when I get my press (roll on pay day!) I shall try and work up a load for the 58gr, I had some Norma ammo with that bullet and it's superb.
