land permission

Recommended Posts

I am in the same boat as you bud, I have had a drive round some farms today in my loal area and have managed to secure 750 acres on three farms :D .

I went with some permission letters already printed and all they had to do was fill in their name etc and sign it. I found that farmers are busy and don't want bothered but persitence pays off. Try phoning round a few out of the yellow pages or do as I did and just drive up to them. Make sure you tell them you will respect their land and that you will always check with them before you go to shoot, I told all of them I would prep the bunnies for them and drop them off.

Good luck anyhow

IMHO phoning is the worst thing you could ever do. You will not only catch the guy at the most inopertune moment, but it is oh so easy to say "no" over the phone. Anyway, he will want to get a good look at you before he lets you anywhere near his land.

Persist, the 1st one is always the hardest, once you've done that one make a bit of noise, get yourself seen by the neighbouring farms and it should come easier.

For me the key was when I got in with a farmer who was also a major contracter, (combining), in the area. Mentioning his name opened all the doors.

I'm afraid the age thing really is against you, but I wish I was your age :whistling:

I would say get in with someone older, but it could be difficult. Most folks with land will take another gun with land out, but most are reluctant to take out someone that has nowhere to shoot for fear of the newcomer trying to edge them out of there shooting
