well,...my mate was arrested and released without charge in march last year....

anyway they confiscated his laptop and phone,....well he only just let it slip to me last night that they still have them....

i said just go and ask them for it back......he never did anything wrong and was released without charge so surely he should have been given them straight away?

anyway personally i think they will have been auctioned off or something but surely he can go in and ask for them back....

anyone been in this situation?

well if he was not charged try going down to police station and saying to them that they took laptop and what ever else and that he was not charged and that the officers said they would send the items out when finished with them to him end of day it might work and he might get new stuff but you get a certain amount of time before they send them to the auctions mate its a try nothing to loose

you mate seems quite vague to you you dont say what it was for if he WAS released without charge then he is entitled to it back the police will contact him if he hasnt contacted them then he has 14 days to collect but if he was released without charge pending further investigation then they will hold on to it for a long time in my case it was 2.5 years then the shit hit the fan with lots of charges
