Pops 19
i know the beddyXwhippet is a fairly popular cross. what exactly is the beddy bringing to the mix? what other terriers are used in making whippet lurchers? what terriers are absolutely never used? what other dogs are considered a good cross w/ whippets? Guest ferret feller
terriers that are never used are yorkie and westi they add fire too the mix terriers are generally tougher aswell and handle the knocks better no ggod ferreting in thick bramble with a pure greyhound or pure whippet Quote Link to post
Big bald beautiful 1,231
better coat and thats it, most bedlingtons used arent as game as a straight whippet. my whippet dog enters cover as well as any terrier, not always the best idea when rabbits are bolting out. he has ripped skin and nicks off wire but a beddy cross would still get the same, just harder to see/find Quote Link to post
BLUCHER 1
MY BEDDY WHIPPET HAD THE BEST NOSE OF ANY DOG IVE EVER OWNED IF IT MARKED YOU COULD BE SURE ONE WAS AT HOME. IT HAD MORE BOTTLE THAN A LOT OF DOGS TWICE ITS SIZE WHEN IT CAME TO TACKLING CHARLIE. ME IM A BIG FAN OF THIS CROSS. Quote Link to post

bill88 6
Been done to death this one but i'll have my say as a beddiexwhippet owner. Good points, Better feet, better coat, stronger jaw, thicker skin, determination, courage,a nose that would put some hounds to shame, etc etc. Bad point's, Not as fast as a pure whippet, can be stubborn, selective hearing, some yap,and a refusal to back down even when the odds are stacked against them. Each to there own and you pay your money and make your own choice.I chose a beddiex simply because i think its better suited to the ground i work. Quote Link to post
