chalkedup 14
i dont agree with hitting a dog either but i have given mine a light tap a couple of times with fingers the last owner gave me a whipple stick and told me to hit him with that if he misbehaved , i snapped it up i dont think theres no need for that either i didnt know much about dogs and didnt know about the alpha male thing at first and didnt lay down any rules for him at all, so he thought he was boss, i was making up some fishing bait and had him with me, i went to carry on making bait and walked away and the little bugger had a nip at the back of my leg, i didnt realise thats what happened thought it was just him jumping up at me so id carry on playing with him so gave him some more attention then turnt to walk away and carry on and he done it again, i checked my leg as it hurt that time and i had a big graze and redness and eventualy came out as a bruise the size of my fist here he bit me he got a slap across the back of the head for that nothing hard though more a you cant do that kind of thing then carried on treating him as normal he was playing up quite alot and about 2 weeks later he nipped me on my face i had a tooth hole to the left of my nose and another in my nostril so he got a light slap again for that and then having read the day before about the alpha male thing held him on his back by his throat gently like the dog whisperer does and he was submissive but you could tell by the look in his eye he didnt care as he knew i wouldnt actualy hurt him as i love him to bits so i sent him to the corner of the room for a 1/2 hour with no effection which isnt the norm since then i always eat before him,enter/leave the house before him and other little things like that and now hes good as gold although stubborn he has never been trained before but now hel give me the ball when asked in a gentle voice and sit too, shouting at him makes no difference it just makes him more stubborn the last owner needed 2 balls as hed never drop it until another was thrown i wouldnt clip him for disobedience or nothing like that as i dont feel its needed there should be mutual trust and respect, no force needed as itl just break the bond but i think some dogs do need to be shown whos boss but that doesnt mean violence as i realy dont like seeing people hitting there dogs i just think its cruel but in all honesty he was on his last chance as i dont think biting a human is acceptable i just wish he wasnt such a fecker with other dogs but mabe in time il be able to sort that
Deker 3,478
i dont agree with hitting a dog either but i have given mine a light tap a couple of times with fingers So that doesn't count as hitting....how about a sharpe yank on the lead...is that ok!! Guys/Gals....I cannot help but think there is a definition issue here..I think very few are in favour of beating the s**t out of their dog, but there is without doubt a need for a light tap..or rubbing their nose in it or a yank on the lead from time to time until "trained"...if this does not produce the required results in a "relatively" sensible time then you are doing something wrong or have the wrong dog...call in the dog whisperer. chalkedup 14
when i say light tap i mean light, not a slap and it was done without losing my temper , i felt something had to be done as like i said i could shout at him until blue in the face and hed just look at me as if to say f**k off i dont have to listen to you mabe i shouldnt of ? should i have taken him to a vets for a injection or passed him on to someone else for him to bite them or there child ? like i said now hes pretty good and i dont feel ive done nothing wrong ive never hurt him and i neither would
undisputed 1,664
Nowt wrong with a boot in the ribs now and then and the occasional beating with a stick but enough about my mrs! I find a stern finger wagging works for mine and putting the chocy biscuits out of reach for 10 mins...failing that I put her on the naughty step for 15mins

Hannah4181 260
hit a dog and it'll never forget and may just get ya back one day thanks for the replies chaps! thought it was me just bein soft but most of the lads i know hit their dogs and i think there only doin more damage! Ive pulled people for hitting their dogs, not just twatting them, but really booting them Some have been 'dog lads', but most have been just idiots with pets. The last fella i pulled was walking a dalmatian, the dog pulled to one side to have a piss against a fence,he lost the plot shouting at it,the dog dropped to the ground and lay flat on its side, the fella then started booting it and dragging it by the lead. Poor fukin dog was scared shitless,so i gave him a bit shove about and a talking to. I got a load of verbal off him saying it had nowt to do with me,mebbes hes right, just hate seeing animals abused like that. There may be times when a dog needs a twatting? Certain breeds? I dont know? I dont know that much about dogs, but what i saw that day was a dog submitting to its master and getting the shit kicked out of it. Dont seem right to me,mebbes im getting soft in me old age, lol. Edited to add, sorry for all the swearing but it really boils my p@ss Yeh gets me too donk! :realmad: I failed my driving test 1st time round because i stopped the car and got out to confront a pykie who was beating a dog in the front garden with a huge stick, she had a litter of puppies running round as well. Scum of the earth. :wankerzo4:

Tracy36 0
I disagree with the statement the man with the dalmation came out with! It becomes everyones business when a dog is clobbered in the street. he made it your business! T**t!
Hannah4181 260
I grew up in Kent and there was, shall we say a very "rough" housing estate, with lots of "rough" people in it! Locally they were referred to as "pykies". They were not "pykies" of the traveling variety. The Driving test centre was at one end of the estate, you had to drive through a warren of small roads to get into town. It was, whilst stopping to parallel park that the incident occured, i got out and confronted the man who was beating the dog, if i say i had to step over a washing machine and burnt out motorbike to get to him, you get the picture! He just gave me a load of abuse and went inside with the dogs. I'm really not a violent or confrontational person, however this made me see red, then to top it off i failed my test for it! The parallel park was spot on as well!
Ratman2 2
If you can't train and control a dog with your body language and voice, get a punch bag, cos you aint fit to keep a dog.
steviebhoy 0
I find that a good shake is enough to sort them out. No matter how well trained a dog is it will always push the boundaries with you more so if they know there not going to get a whack for it.

Its using terms like "pykies" that start arguements why not refer to him as a twat......are you a snob? maybe they should bulldoze the "rough housing estate" and deport all these "rough" people out of your area that way you wont be so easily offended
