OUT TODAY

Recommended Posts

Finally managed to get FK up to my land to return the invite from August at his place.Arrived at the top quarry for 9'ish no wind,1.5c which is tropical as it was -8.5c on Tuesday :icon_eek: .On the top of the quarry bank we seen a few run into the quarry wall but a couple ran onto the opposite bank we would be working. We did 3 sets on the way to the opposite bank & drew a blank, never mind still plenty to do.

After clambering up the quarry bank we placed a few purse nets around & ran the quickset around the first section of the bank, managed to bag 1 but the 2 jills were stuck with one stop ender but after 20 mins they both came out matted up.I moved the qs further along the bank, nothing at home in that clump of holes  We did the same further along the bank & manged to bag 1 :)

We then moved into the small wood to try & get a couple more in the bag but no one at home in the 3 sets we did  . I knew it would be a struggle today but i did expect to bag more than 2 but that's just the way it is sometimes :icon_redface: .Jack had his young jill with him today & she improved as the day went on as this was her second outing & being out in the beautiful Weardale countryside which is always a pleasure.

Our end of day photo with our hard won 2 bunnies

Least you always forget your bad days.....

It's not the first time ive been told to "get a dog".I have'nt the time or space or money at the moment to have a dog.I won't take any Tom,Dick or Harry on my land with a dog because the landowner is a sheep farmer & he does'nt want strangers dogs running around on there. He does allow dogs on there however they are people he knows personally & he would probalies allow me to have a dog on there BUT i don't have one & i don't trust strangers with "marking dogs" to come with me & do me a favour.......

I have found it hard to bolt at the moment mate; two is good in these cold conditions. The rabbits will stay down as long as possible as they fell safer underground and they lay up a lot deeper when the frost comes. I was out yesterday on a set that showed signs of plenty of rabbit activity and only bolted 3.

Your permission looks great mate and noting like getting out on a frosty morning to clear the lungs lol.
