not a myth but a fact, actualy 2 facts.

1st moles have twice as much blood in there body as a similar sized mamal, reason. cos of the low levels of oxygen below ground.

2nd moles are active in 4 hourly cycles, then sleep 4 hours and so on. would be intresting to know how the scientist found this fact

According to the EXPERTS, since the last ice age feck knows how many thousands of years ago, Moles have not made it further than Carlisle, that will come as a bit of a suprise to Glenn and a few others!!!!.

If you put a dead mole in anothers tunnels it will drive the resident mole out, Bo...cks, they will eat it or bury it, and sometimes both.

That sonic repelents are effective as WAS Renardine...:lol::lol::lol:

The BBC wildlife on one team found that out when filming the programme on moles, dont know if you lot have seen it, but theres lots of footage of the moles travelling through their tunnels, they were all filmed in a large tank. They found out a few things when doing this filming apparently.............

I read something from an old bit of mole research .Apparently the 4 hour shift pattern is pretty true but if a mole is prevented from finding enough food because of a shortage or some sort of disturbance it will go back to cover for a bit more sleep rather than waste energy or suffer stress. It reapears to try again later .This can upset the shift pattern apparently.

By the way the thing about digging 3 feet to set traps is definatly TRUE!

Only a few days ago I had to go through the centre of the Earth (Following a trail of empty booze bottles left by the likes of the late Doug Maclure) almost to the other side ,in order to catch a really deep mole that had been throwing up pyramids in Egypt.

The result is pictured

My old headkeeper used to say that if you found a dead mole on a footpath or woodland track it meant that a fox was about.

Don't know if this was just to encourage us to spend more time on vermin control or if it has any biological truth.

Cats and foxes catch them and play with them without eating them sometimes - same goes for shrews. They must taste funny or something?
