steve0146 0
Hi. I'm new to snaring and set 10 out yesterday. Went to look this morning and two had the peg still in the ground with some of the cord still on but looked chewed through. The cord is tough para cord so not sure what is going on. The snare and wire tealer were missing. Is this common or am i setting it wrong. do many rabbits chew there way out ?? Quote Link to post
osimons89 0
was the ground ripped up around the tealer, were there and prints or was the ground to hard? Quote Link to post
steve0146 0
The pegs were still in the ground and the only bits of the cord on it. There was fur around so had a rabbit in it at some point. There are loads of foxes here so that might have something to do with it. Quote Link to post
Rolfe 2
Rabbits can and do chew through the holding twines on snares........unusual to find two out of ten wires though. Check they haven't been cleanly cut with a knife and someone has pinched your bunnies. Rolfe. Quote Link to post
osimons89 0
if the rabbit was screaming foxes could have picked them. try a few fox wires round the out side of the area where the rabbit wires are. Quote Link to post
steve0146 0
I'm thinking someone or their dog has grabbed them. There are loads of foxes here though. I often see them around our bins. Cant really snare them or would end up with someones dog in it. Edited January 9, 2009 by steve0146 Quote Link to post

Rolfe. like rolfe says , it does look suspicous , fur lying around and the twines cut , a fox wouldn,t bite the twines . Quote Link to post
Guest Rod&dog
Why bother cutting the twine,,When they could just remove the rabbit?????? Quote Link to post

Holdaway 2
Well if you catch the culprit then you can ask them. Maybe they only saw two snares as they had rabbits in, they may have been out when it was dark. I can't say, it's only speculation. H Quote Link to post

If they're chewed then it's possibly just bad luck having two chewed through. Though I must say to lose two out of two is extremely odd. Quote Link to post
