Hello All,

I was out lamping with my bitch earlier this week, she returned after a slip slightly limping, checked her over when I got back to the car and she seemed to have a decent graze on the underside of her hind leg, Thought nothing of it just rest for a couple of days.

Been to her this morning and the is wat looks like a bruise the size of the palm of my hand, its a real dark colour almost black, reminds me of a blood blister, she doesnt seem in any pain when I touch it and she still has a slight limp.

I have got her booked in at the vets later today, just wondered if any one had seen anything like this before?

Any advice?

It probably is just a bruise, usually nothing to worry about but to put your mind at rest take her to her appintment and see what they say. Our beddy whippet was running and slid sideways into a concerete water trough, bruised all her side it was purple and black and a bit sore for about a week and a half but she was fine after.

Or it could be a badly torn muscle which has been bleeding under the skin to create the 'bruised' effect you are seeing. The vet will tell you more.

Cheers for the advice, hope it is just a bruise, she is booked in at 16:00 so fingers crossed, the nurse sounded worried and was talking of maybe having to drain the blood off, we will see, I will report back later

Hello All,

Thanks for your advice and support,

Went to the vets on Friday afternoon and she had a very badly bruised muscle and has told me to rest her for 3 days and given her 3 days worth of anti inflamatries, took her out for a brisk walk this morning and she seemed fine, no limping, stil quite bruised but im sure she will be fine.

Thanks again ATB Champ
