gnasher16 30,279
Was asked by a friend to go pick out the best made pup of a litter of dobermans today....i was somewhat surprised to see tails behind them, when i asked the breeder what the score was she said it was illegal to dock tails in england but not ireland and it applies to all breeds....anyone know if this is right or what the situation is ? It is true Gnasher mate. You can only get certain working breeds done now in England & Wales, (Some terriers/some gundogs) and then only with the right paperwork, and even then they have to be chipped. It's totally against the law in Scotland, no matter what, totally banned. A woman not far from me was done about a year ago, for taking her pups to Ireland to be done. It was a test case, and it set a precedent.....

I know absolutely nothing about dobermans........but ive bred enough dogs over 30 years to be able to pick out the structurally most sound and healthy specimen of any litter regardless of its breed hence the lady wanting the pup knows ive been round dogs all my life and asked this small favour........so the fact they no longer have tails means i dont know what im looking at or for ?......dont try being a clever dick mate its not big and not clever ! The breeder of the pups has to produce either a gun licence, a permission letter covering pest control, or proof of land ownership. What bearing all that nonsense will have on the pups is beyond me. Fair enough, you can prove that the Dam is a working animal, but how the hell do they know if the pups are to be workers or not? My JRT is legally docked, if I remember later on, I'll scan the paperwork, and post a copy up here just so people can see the bullshit. It's about 10 fecking pages long!
