Ase ultra mod

Recommended Posts

just about to fill a spare slot with .223 & have been looking at different mods... I've been advised about the Ase, your views please..

I have one on my 6.5x55 and am very impressed with it..also have a t8 on my 223..personally I prefere the ase over the t8..more compact and doesnt heat the barrel up when at the range as it doesnt slipp over the barrel

I agree i have one on my .260 and a t8 on the .22-250 no problem with the t8 but if i bought another mod it would be ASE.

Some times works lose though so you need to get in the habit of checking its screwed up tight !

yes i have ase jetz cqb on my 22/250 super build and performance. never had any problems with the mod unscrewing

i guess thats just down to how tight the thread is cut on the rifle ? or alot of shots on range mite undo the mod a little.

you wont go wrong with the ase mod if you plan to use it on just the 223 and not on a bigger caliber rifle then get the cqb model its made for 22 centrefires. there around £299 pound now but i no a place that does them for £265 if you cant get one for that price local pm me and i will tell you the place

I had an ASE S5 for over a year before I sold it...I was happy with its construction and performance but it did me no favours with gun balance on the end of my T3 Lite.

Never used the Jetz but held one...the weight and size appear better...the price is up...and the tech spec says they have the edge in sound reduction...seems a fair package to me.

My Centrefires currently have the P8...definately NOT the best sound reduction but adequate and easy to strip and clean...which means I probably do it too often...had the ASE S5 for over a year and Never cleaned it...still worked a treat!!

theres too many choices ! & its a big step to fork out the cash on a moddy when its not known which moddy will suit each rifle..

the main 3 ive been looking at are the Ase utra, reflex T8 & the wild cat.. i like the idea of it returning back over the barrel to take some of the length off..

one thing with the T8 that interested me was they state that theres no need for stripping down to clean, but after taking my sak off after a few 100 shots & seeing the build up i cant see how a moddy can go without a clean..

i will have my rifle by next week & want to sort a moddy out for it soon as... sorry for all the questions, but what your opinions on the other two units i mentioned.

thanks

I make the fairly obvious assumption that the SAK was on a Rimfire......Rimfire ammo is filthy compared to centrefire, leaves great lumps of crud all over the place, centrefire ammo burns more efficiently and tends to leave a surface coating!

If you are concerned about "cleaning", the Predator 8 (consider the Compact version) is the one for you. Very easy to strip and clean and it's modular design means you can buy "parts" for it if required! But don't get wrapped up in this cleaning business! The T8 is about the same sound reduction as the P8 and "about" the same price..but tends to have a twangy/tinny note!

ASE will give the best sound reduction (just), the least maintenance, but cost the most...lifes a bitch hey...thats why I live with the P8!!!

Was at my local gunsmith on Friday. I have a T8 on a Sako75 .243. It is quiet but as said by Deker it's bit tinney sounding. He would NOT recommend The Wild cat as he said they have had a bit of "trouble" with them. They do have the advantage of been able to strip down to clean. The one that I thought was the best was the Jet-Z compact which

was lighter and quieter than my T8 BUT it was £280! I'am going to save the money and buy one of these. It also made the gun better balanced Like alot of things in life you get what you pay for!!
