Rabbithunter 456
Got a lab. bitch. She is 9 years old and for a couple of years now, been having a problem with agression, towards the end of her "heat" She sleeps in the "utility room". A few years back, my mam went into the said room. And the lab "bared teeth" growled etc.... so my mam closed the door on her........ a night or so later she did she same to my dad, but he gave her what i think a dog deserves in this situation..... Then she tried with my brother. He done the same as my mam..... Then me, i did the same as my dad. As "seasons" came by, she did it again, but only to my brother & mother. Last night, however she actually went for my brother, luckily she only had a grip on his jumper, but managed to give a good nip on his finger also. So he "fled the scene" instead of giving it I think she needs to go & see the vets to get a needle. But my mam & dad didnt have the heart to do it today. Is there any reason she is being aggressive at the end of her heat? She has never had pups

tarvae 0
She sounds like me at the wrong time of the month I'm with ESS get her spayed - no good reason not to ana a lot of good reasons to have it done.
Aled 476
Our black lab had a good innings lived until he was 17 but i think he began to loose his marbles, the turning point for me regarding the vets needle was the day i came downstairs and he growled at me. He'd not done that in an aggressive manor ever in his life. Also this was one of several rather out of charecter issues, he'd tried to attack my brothers rucksack! I then knew it was time for him to go. Now i'm not suggesting the situation is the same for you, personally i hope not because we do get very (perhaps too?) attached to our dogs. Cheers Aled
Doglost Co-Ordinator 4
Get her speyed, if she only ever shows aggression at the end of her season it's a bit extreme to pts. She could be around for a few years yet & she's probably just as stressed as you.

richard25 0
Firstly get her spayed and that should help abit The problem being that she has learnt that by doing these behaviours she does not get disturbed or bothered by your mum or brother & last night she was just showing them more of a warning as she knows they are below her now & she wants to put them in her place.. Personally i would spay her & have the people who she has showed aggression too feed her everyday & start to do most of the walking with her in a way where she knows she is a follower & no pack leader.. Good luck Edited January 11, 2009 by richard25
