fox in a tree

Recommended Posts

i cannot blank the lads face out so cannot put them up.if he reads this he might tell you the story. :clapper::clapper:

:clapper::clapper: classic mate, send me the pic and i shall block out the ugly gits face!!! how long before i felt out was it :whistling::tongue2: .... i did win mind i seem to remember.

i would be lost without a tree dog, foxes will go anywhere they feel safe, dry and warm, and trees are no exception. they like willow and the especially like lime tress, if anyone has acess to areas with lime trees (ie parkland) i would always check them, most are easy to spot by the claw marks up in the tree. most dogs with a nose will find them but it takes a good dog to really work them well on the branches. quite a few foxes will climb to the top and them run down the out side of the lime bunch to the ground... howwver if it dosent bolt, best know someone with ladders. i know some tress that are as productive as earths.

I was walking up a field one day with the rifle, there was a holly tree in front and i could see this flash of red in between the branches,it turned out to be a handsome strong dog fox,i put the cross hairs on his head, but I dont shoot fox unless im instructed to by the farmer.i cant see the point in shooting something just for the sake of it.but I was amazed to see it 8-10 ft up.

well my local farmer who i do a bit of pest control for rang me a few days ago to say he has been losing chickens to a fox

so for the last 2 days iv been looking every where for a earth or pipe what it could be useing.

couldnt find any thing yesterday so iv been on the look with my terrier again today

i found a likely pipe but wile i was trying to get in to it my terrier was going mad round the bottom of a tree

i thought at first it must be a squirrel but then as i walked to get my dog a fox jumped out from about 10 feet up :o

i couldnt believe my eyes. now there was no hole at bottom of tree so it must of climbed to where it was. iv red about it in books and mags but never thought it would happen to me.

a few years ago i saw a young fox walking along the top of the panels of the fence at the back of my garden like a cat (pre dog days) it also used to climb the fences. which are about 6ft high and go from garden to garden. all fences between the houses are 6ft. I used to hear it scrambling over at night..........if only my neighbours weren't animal lovers and coppers..............
