OUT TODAY

Recommended Posts

Headed up to Dryburnside today as i did,nt fancy the quarries as i was alone  never mind.Arrived at the top of the moor for 8:30am,car showing -8.5c :icon_eek: but bright sky,no wind.On the way to the burn the grouse & partridge seemed to be everywhere & a couple of rabbits ran for cover,so not a bad omen :hmm: .

I started on a 15+ holer, well tried too, could'nt get the longnet poles in :wallbash: however after 20 mins of grunting, :censored: & sore palms i got them in & i purse netted a few 1-2 holers in the vicinity.Nothing out of the large set but 1 out of a 1 holer with the small jill.

I then moved downbank to a 10 or so holer, eventually got the longnet around it,no one at home.At the bottom of the bank i ran the longnet around a spreadout 15+ holer & bagged 1 out of that & bagged 1 out of a single holer but this was on it's last legs with mxyi

I decided to do the tree root set in the other field & call it a day as the wind was picking up & really starting to bite, again ground like bell metal but netted up eventually & i had a bite to eat with a warm'ish cup of tea, bloody flask's  .Bagged 1 in a purse net but it was half grown :icon_eek: just as i was sorting it out, another ran into the longnet with the jill straight on to it,as i clambered to get over there the jill pulled the rabbit out of the net :icon_eek: due to the bagging getting snagged on a fallen, frozen branch so back down it went :wallbash: i put the other jill in to see if it would bolt but after 20mins of giving them the run around i called it a day as it was close to 2pm & i had a long, frozen uphill yomp ahead.

Still nice to be out,eh :hmm: Frozen with a blistered palms & not off what you's lot are thinking either :icon_redface::laugh:

Nice one Andy, looks bleedin cold mate, there's been no let up in it all for ages now! One positive side, it should help kill off any mixi fleas that are just led around waiting for the next victim!

I should'nt have went really B!!But i was chomping at the bit...The mxyi's ravaged the bottom quarry in October,i did'nt want to be clambering around the top quarry walls today,as it was a tad slippy so Dryburnside was my only other option...think i'll wait till it thaws a bit now!!
