What is the most humane way of killing a deer?

i find the most and eficant way is to bend the head back over the back untill it breaks the neck then cut the throat ,breaking the neck paralizes the deer and stops any chance of it geting up and running away .but just remember you wont be able to do this to a stag ,because the antlers get in the way .

Approach the deer from behind, grab its ear or antler and hold it down by kneeling on its chest.

Pull the head back and cut its throat making sure that you sever the main arteries on either side of the neck.

Keep control of the head as this will allow you to direct the blood away from you.

 

On Christmas Eve this year I was driving my daughter back from the Panto in the dark when the road ahead was blocked by an accident, someone had hit a donkey that had got loose on the road.

 

The car had taken the legs out from under the donkey which ended up riding up over the bonnet and making a mess of the windscreen causing some damage to the passengers before going over the top of the car and ending up dead in the road.

 

After doing what I could to help I returned to the car to hear the presenter of the carol service on the radio saying:

 

"And now our final carol; "What the donkey saw""

 

The little voice inside my head said:"Probably the tax disc"

Recently we had some car accidents in the area with roe. In case of emergency, what is the fastest and most humane way to kill a roe deer if you have no gun close by? Do they have a weak spot, can you break the neck or something?

the best way to do it is to cut the throat from ear to ear on the underside of the head and then grab the head one hand on the animals nose one hand on the back of the head! then push the hand down that you have on the back of the head and pull up with the other then the neck will break and cause instant death to the animal!! this is the best way trust me!!! after all i am a licenced slaughterman!!!

As i have said & dont want to get all high & mighty but a slaughter-house is diffrent from a road side. Iv got a hell of experiance with deer & to keep it simple for others with lesser experiance & keep it humane & quick for the deer just cut the throat from ear to ear & get out the way & give it a couple minutes. As i said first & is getting a bit cover is any deer are dangours but my main experiance is red/roe & are very dangours they hooves can kill you & roe resort to it.
