I was involved in getting a horse out of an icy pond years ago, bit different because obviously they are to big to drag out. It was heartbreaking, his mouth was frozen up where he was screaming. Yes,I'd jump in if it was either of mine.O/H did once cos it looked like the dog was going too far out and might not make it back.He'd just jumped in when dog turned and headed for shore! the ferreter 0 Posted January 6, 2009 Report Share Posted January 6, 2009 (edited) i cant swim but i had a black lab years ago the old dog was not to great he had had problems with his kidneys and had lost a lot of weight and wasnt very good on his legs the old bugger never moved far from your side .we went on holiday to the caravan and we were down the beach the dog was just at the edge of the water but his brothe rwas futher out ,i turned my back and he was out in the water i called the dogs back and his brother came back but he never came back he didnt have the power in his legs to get back .my kids were screaming for him to come back i just couldn`t stand back and watch my dog washed out to sea ,i just wadded in by the time i got to him i was up to my neck struggling to keep myself safe but i managed to get him and help him back to shore ,i wouldnt think twice about doing it again cheers thats the pair of them Edited January 6, 2009 by the ferreter Quote Link to post Share on other sites

If i didnt it would never get it out my feckin head Some times dogs can get you down+do your head in but there is nothing better than a good old workingdog, you wont get a more loyal mate.
