rats under chicken sheds

Recommended Posts

i was on the phone earlier to a farmer where i have just gained some new permission to go ferreting he is a bit nervous about who he lets on his land so dont want to go talking about bringing different people as i have only met the guy once before but i am going up to do a bit of fereting tommorrow for the first time on his land

while talking to him he mentioned that he has a problem with rats under the chicken sheds and asked if we had ever done any ratting or new the best way of ridding them without using poisons

i told him i had no experience with rats but would ask people that did for advice

i have never done any myself but told him i have seen lads years ago that smoked them out and let the dogs get them but he was a bit concerned about the smoke on the chickens

what or how is the best way to rid them from under the sheds

your advice would be greatfully received as i dont want to go talking rubbish when i have no experience with rats and risk losing the permission

thanks

your going to need help doing this, so make him aware, you'd have to invite a few people to help, as unless you have terriers,

also see if anyone near you has a rat attack smoker, they use a oil that is vapourised into a thick smoke

you could always trap them but if you dont own traps is expensive or snare them to snare rats the best option is to use a long pole as spring effect called a bender if you want more info give me a pm and i'll write it all out for you good diagrams in the book traps and trapping by james a bateman
