I own Jack and Hazel. Jack has matched Wolfie once and beat him, Wolfie has never beaten Jack. Hazel and Woldie have matched three times, first match Wolfie won 3-2, second match Hazel won 3-1 (Wolfie caught his first missed his second) and the third match Hazel won 2-0. Quote Link to post

Guest warren
Nearly 30 years ago my pals and me thought we had the best hare dogs around. Back then we had never heard of the FENS or ever dreamed there was big land like it to run hares on. At that time there lived in our village a TRAVELING GENTLEMAN by the name of, Mr J Brough, (someones going to tell me that I spelled his name wrong) now living in Essex I believe!! Now then, I have only ever been to the fens twice, once to work and once to judge a show for Mr Darren Galligher, I cant comment on the Fen hare. Our local hares just like most of your local hares had all kinds of safe havens to lose the most determined lurcher, good thick hedgrows, woods all over the place, fences, you name it, a hare has somewhere to leave a lurcher with nothing but a lolling tounge. In the pub one night a good mate of mine was (a none Traveler by the way) bragging about his super duper hare killer, and believe me the dog was a good-un, one mistake from old long ears and it was game over. The Traveling man Mr J Brough, ( if I can say now is one of the very finest genlemen I have ever met) sat quiet for as long as he could, said to my mate I will run you tomorrow morning anywher you want. To cut a long story short I was invited out with them and it was the very first time I ever saw three hares killed by a single dog. Mr Broughs dog never missed a hare after three runs. WOW, these hares really did have places (cover) to go but this dog never allowed them!! From that day on while Mr Brough lived in our village he allowed us to take smooth "SPRING", he had the time another decent lurcher, a rough dog also named Spring. Just out of interest, I know for a fact that Smooth Spring had a very big influence over the Minshaw Dogs of today. There are good and bad in all walks of life and I wish that potencially good threads like this woud not turn into slagging matches. ( Smooth Spring was also the first BULL cross I had ever seen) Regards Warren Quote Link to post
