Sunday afternoon we spotted a fox working a gorse banking , so later on me and my mate laid up waiting for a possible shot on dusk.Anyway as we lay in wait my mate suddenly said "Dont move a fox is walking straight towards us " he positioned his rifle across my back and shot this dumb vixen at a distance of only 20 yards , what was most surprising is that a strong wind was blowing straight at it but it didnt seen to care

nice vixen mate, hope she hasnt got a litter somewhere. the question im wanting to ask is, what sort noise do you get with the sound mod fitted, ive got a tikka.223 and been thinking of getting a sound moderator fitted, ive been told it,ll silence about 60% of the noise,do you find that, thats true

Good Shot.. ... she will have been looking for food for her now slowly starving to death cub's..

Millet

Understand what your saying about the cubs lads, but before we all go mad is that sheep I see behind our man there?

He may have been doing a job?

lambing time and all that.

Was it a job mate?

All the best,

JOEB

PS: I think what the lads are saying is that if it was a job, have you made provision to deal with any litter that the vixen may have had............Im sure you have, but hay....no harm in asking.

Millet , she was not in cub or had cubs , she was barren mate. It is indeed big sheep country also and foxes must be controlled whenever the opportunity arises.

I would definitely get a moderator fitted if I was you ,they are excellent reducing noise considerably along with recoil and also improves accuracy.

I would never go back to a rifle without one fitted , money well spent :good:

£235 thats quite a good price , cost me £300.

I would get it done straight away, another advantage is there is no muzzle flip so you can actually watch what you shoot. :good:

love the gun [bANNED TEXT],what is it ?

Tikka T3 .243 CALIBRE WITH T8 moderator

Shot my first fox with my new rifle on monday night a nice big dog fox couldnt get a pic i never took the camera, but as you said they need to be controlled i spoke to the farmer on the morning and he said one has been hanging about, as soon as i pulled on the farm and put the lamp on there he was among the sheep and lamps only about 100 yards away i kept the lamp on him until he walked to the edge away from the live stock and got him it was about 160 yards i was very impressed :D wont forget my camera next time :good:

What if you turned the hounds on him and shoot him as hes crosses the field, thats how we do deer and its alot of fun. Nice rifle, wish we could have surpressors, just traded my 243, a cheap Savage bolt action but it would keep them all under a quarter at 100 yards, shot a few crows with it between 200-300 yards, oh yeah, missed a few too. Came home from work one day and saw 3 crows in the field by my house, snuck into the gunroom and got the 243 and shot the one in the middle,250 yards,by lazer rangefinder, I was propped on a fence post, the funning thing was the other two came back and started jumping on the dead one, I shot another one and waited but the third one never came back, never saw that before or since.
