I dont think this gives the antis any amunition we are a hunting forum people make mistakes when either young and inpatient or just starting out and impatient or in many cases ill informed this is why we feel the need to discuss things like this and help to steer people on the right path and I think the response of this thread is a mainly 90% possitive one. ;)

The title of this thread is,-

Birds in flight, yes or no.

In the poll there isn't a "no" option, only,- could you? have you? or would you? With that in mind there is no way we can evaluate the votes as everyone that votes is saying "yes" they can, have or would take a shot at a bird in flight.

I would like to think if it was just a straight yes or no vote over 90% of the votes would be no.

For me it's a no brainer, :wallbash: there is no way an air rifle should be used to shoot a bird in flight.

Whatever your views are on this subject it clearly appears that we're the only forum that will tackle such an issue.

Your mainstream airgun press certainly won't but is that a good thing or a bad thing? In another thread people are complaining at how sanitised the airgun magazines are but this is clearly a real time issue that many people have taken the time to consider and comment upon. :hmm:

The biggest mistake the foxhunters made was burying their head in the sand when it came to tackling the problems, inside their own sport. They refused to accept an alternative view point and refused to compromise any ground whatsoever.

Whether you like it or not these people are representing your sport and brushing their opinions under the carpet is a very dangerous route to take.

Whether they're right or wrong they deserve trial by popular opinion.

When the issue of fox control came up I gave the members the chance to air their views on such a matter. I'll do the same with this. If people aren't happy with this policy then don't contribute to it. When the replies dry up the thread will disappear, along with the rants/replies that come with it.

Just remember that there are various people, with various agendas, reading these forums for material they can use against us. Reply with this in mind.

does taking off, count as flying? :big_boss:

I'm sure there are many internet scholars that will argue the semantics of what is, and isn't, flight.

For the purpose of this discussion it's assumed that the shot would be similar to something usually left for the sporting shotgun.

The Caretaker, come on mate, take a 'chill pill', breathe in, breathe out.

There you go man, keep as cool as you can, face piles of trials with smiles. It riles them to believe that you perceive the web they weave.

You're not The Messiah, chill out.:whistling:

My pill has been chilled and your quite right i'm not the messiah and i've turned my frown upside down :D

Well i think we all more or less agree it's not the done thing with an air rifle.

Perhaps the wording of the poll itself could have been more accurate/definitive but all our replies have explained the general thoughts in a positive note(meaning 'no' we wouldn't take the shot with an airgun) and it has created some interesting opinions and views in the process, which at the end of the day is what we read these forums for :D

The worst thing is on the other poll now running, with the more obvious answers to go for people are still saying the they do!

These are the people that represent the sport though... It's clear that idiots with air rifles are a major concern.

Maybe the government are correct in restricting us even further?

Despite wide condemnation, of this practice, people still openly admit to it, and one with a rimfire...

So do we feel a little more educated about our shooting brothers today?

Is it time for airguns to go on ticket?

Don't lose heart too quickly. Any THL member can vote on these polls and not everyone here is pro hunting. Our opponents are here and they'll take any chance they can to disrupt the place.

It could be antis, disgruntled police or even anti shooting journalists.

It's the replies I read. Not the poll results. I've not read a decent argument, in support of shooting birds in flight yet. Mad Al kicked it all off and hasn't had much else to say on the matter.

We've discussed tickets, for airguns, before and it makes you wonder whether we're turning into that street, doesn't it? :hmm:

putting airguns on ticket wouldnt stop idiots! just like banning handguns stopped all gun crime in the uk!

education is the way to go rather than more restrictions!
