Thanks for any help, Jon only the rifle needs locking up. the pellets can be kept with your socks. ...and there are no limits on how many pellets you can buy or hold and you do not need to produce your FAC to buy the pellets..but you will still have to jump through hoops to get a FAC Air...VERY Difficult to get one for Target work..you need land Quote Link to post
jon_h 0
Is FAC air different to fac? Plenty of land to shoot so that shouldnt be a problem. Guessing it still needs to be a full on gun safe british standard jobbie. Quote Link to post
cbw 4
I found that after all the mucking about with FAC air rifle you may as well save money and buy a .22rf. CBW Quote Link to post
jon_h 0
Was going to go the rimfire route but i live on the Scilly isles and we have no gun shop, so its a fair bit of money for a round trip everytime to get ammunition etc. Could get a second hand rifle posted to me, tune the power up and order all ammo online fac air wise. Just measuring up options. quite liked one of the FAC air rifles in the for sale section, i believe it was a condor with adjustable power wheel thing, just wondering which hoops to jump! arveyboy 0
i have no experience with fac air rifles but i have a rimfire .17 hmr. you mentioned that its a long trip to your nearest dealer. remember that the terms of your fac depend on what your FEO feels you require regarding your situation. if you mention to your FEO how far away you live from your local dealer and how money will be an issue when getting to it regularly then he may grant you to buy and hold a very large amount of ammo. its no guarantee but if you have good reason for buying 1000 rounds at a time and holding 1500-2000 then its entirely possible. of course on a first grant you could have problems being granted that much :hmm: if you dont ask you dont get. mad al 146
Loads of folk seem to have gone down the FAC air rifle road and regretted it and how many FAC rated air rifles do ya see for sale with the seller havin a better chance selling sand to an arab. Unless the air rifle is collectable or there's a buyer lookin, a complete and utter waste of money even going there in my opinion Quote Link to post
cbw 4
I think I may open a gun shop in the Scilly isles!!!!# You could allways apply for both??? Very good sugestion about buying large quantities of ammo, well worth a discussion with the firearms officer. CBW Edited January 3, 2009 by cbw Quote Link to post

I would just put in for it - South Yorkshire Police are not know to be lenient on Fire Arms applications, but when the FEO came round to see me, he never batted an eye lid at my request to buy 1000 and hold 1200 on either .22rf or .17hmr. If its that hard to get hold of ammo, I would have thought that a request of 2000 to hold would be very reasonable. As has been said, just try, you have nothing to loose.
