border bitch

Recommended Posts

was out today with my 17mt border bitch, i had the lurcher with me. but when i got to the farm, the farmer had put sheep in the fields that the earths are in, so i had to give them amiss and try a few fields further on, the little bitch went to ground in 3 different places, but nowt at home, in one of the fields is a bomb hole covered in bramble, trees, and bits and bobs, on the side of this bomb hole is an old sett, it goes off the dial as i found out 20years back, so my plan was to keep the bitch on her lead and just have a look, the lurcher was loose and she went to it and when i got there she was marking a hole at the bottom where its flat, i thought she has just put one to ground or she is marking very strongly, now these holes are not part of the sett, so i had a look about 5 or so holes to it, lets the bitch off, now this bitch has only arse ended a fox befor, but she opened up and was baying like a good un, lurcher on stand by, out bolts the fox, shot fired missed, lurcher slipped i thought the fox would dive to ground in the sett but the dog was on its tail and turned it back towards the earth back to ground, now the border is still in but not baying, this is it, im going to see what she will do now, border comes out,i hold her and block up 3 holes bitch dives back in and she is working {traveling}the earth, out again so i unblock the holes and the bitch enters every one but she cant or wont find this fox, ive seen dogs shy off befor but this one is keen as hell to go in, in the end i lift her and walk off, gutted, about half amile away i phones my mate { my missis} tells her what happened , its bolted she says, you dont no how many holes there are, it could of slipped out, it really got to me so back i went tryed the bitch and she entered every hole keenly, nowt, back to the car and just to make it worst, when i take the b&f off its got fox fur on it. is it possible that she is pulling the wool, is the fox in there , any ideas folks.

The only thing you can trust is your dog so youve just got to believe it ,if you havent got another more experianced dog to put in,had the same trouble with my young bitch but by trusting her ive had a few digs with her this season, but if all dogs were the same and like robots what sort of fun would it be.
