Dante first rabbit! Awesome!

Recommended Posts

Hi All.

My 7 month old Whippet Dante, caught his first rabbit on the lamp the 30th of December.

It was pretty chilly and we went out early to avoid the really hard ground.

Within the first 10 minutes my mate slipped his Lurcher and she chased and caught.

Then onto the next field and I slipped Dante, he seemed to of gone off in the other direction away from the lamp but then lopped back round and was right onto it, seemed to last for ages, i even thought he had lost it but I nabbed it right before the hedge.

I ran over and it was dead on arrival.

Just a brilliant moment, can’t wait to get out again.

And cheers to mike for all of his help, makes all the difference for a young pup to see other older dogs doing the business.

Here are some pictures.

Dante looks fantastic, glad to see he's out and about. Bet the missus was well chuffed when she saw that rabbit on the living room floor! :o Keep up the good work mate.

Well done mate! Great name for a dog but he looks a bit too young to be running on hard ground.

Take it steady. Cheers, D.

Yeah the ground was fine as we went out early before it really got too hard again.

He is a hardy little bugger and so game when we are out. i dont take him out too often as i dont want him to burn out or hurt himself, went last night which was the best night so far, despite seeing so many foxes we became sick of the sight of them.

Just about timed it to perfection, just as the cloud cover went away and the moon was on show and the ground was hardening, we were all done, top night!!!

Wish i had taken a camera really as there were some epic courses, could of thrown my cap on a few of them, they coursed them that close to us, brilliant!

Yeah the Mrs wasnt best pleased when she found blood on the floor this morning, funny thing is she was so tipsy last night that she couldnt remember what the blood was from and thought i had cut myself.

Still i have to put up with the house looking like a tack room so what the hell!

right you have had the one now i think you should leave it now untill the dog is 12 months old then once you got another one leave it untill it is 18 months then all systems go [that is what the opinion seems to be on this site about starting young dogs] :D which i fully agree with :feck:keep it at it.
