I was trying last week when i was waiting down at the river and the little ba$tard never sat still for a mo!!! it was a right little spoil sport.,...but yes OTC it would look nice...... Guest it's all my land after 12 Posted January 17, 2009 Report Share Posted January 17, 2009 (edited) Think you'll find the bird in question is in fact a "firecrest" if you look at the colour on the head/crest it is orange & yellow where as the gold crest only has yellow, as youngsters we used to collect bird eggs (only 1 from each nest ) and were lucky enough to find i small area of pine/evergreen tree's inhabited by quite a few pairs of "goldcrests" this being just over the county border from us in cornwall, they are as many have said very shy. and used to be referred to as golden crested wrens but they are infact closely related to warblers and belong to the "kinglet family.
