david2363 42
All this bushing talk intrigues me, a relatively new term I think. I can't remember lads 20 years ago talking proudly of their bushing terriers. Bushing used to be something that was done in the summer months, for a bit of fun, and to keep the dogs occupied and fit. Now some lads are specialist bushers and talk about their bushing prowess without a hint of embarrassment or even irony. Most types of dogs can be trained to hunt through cover, I've seen Heinz 57 mongrels who could give a field trial Spaniel a run for it's money. The working Bedlington is (in my view) on the verge of ruination - not just because of the KC fluffy brigade, but because so many are breeding litters "Busher to Busher" ...It would be funny if it wasn't so fvcking sad. It's not for me to deny some lads their days out bushing, but let's not lose sight of the fact that most little dogs will , if given the chance, chase small rodents.
