Not Puchasing Enough Ammo

Recommended Posts

Just read a post on p/w where a guy says he can get done for not purchasing ammo often enough i never heard of this,is there a certain amount you have to buy in 5yrs before your next renewal i dont think so but is any of this true

I don't think he 'can get done' but I have heard of FAC holders being quizzed by their FEO as to whether in view of the little amount of ammo purchased they still have a need for the particular rifle.

yes but if you reload they dont now how much ammo you use. you could say 2000 rounds a year ! bullet heads here dont get wrote on ticket. i guess they could if you asked them to so you can prove to the flo next time you send your ticket away

use it or loose it as the saying goes.

i shoot for a farmer who had his renewal for a 222 refused because he did not use enough ammo.

bullet heads go on your ticket here.

primers and powder go in a log book.

Only expanding ammo goes on your ticket, you can buy non expanding ammo mail order.

Not sure about this terminology, but there is NO LAW says you have to buy ammo...simple fact is that at renewal, if you are questioned about apparent lack of ammo use and cannot justify it, the odds are you will forfeit that calibre!!

We have to put expanding ammo on our tickets & as said powder & primmers go into a log book. You can use match ammo on vermin ie A-MAX or a matchgrade HP not sure on the FMJ.

Whilst it may well be preferable to use "Expanding" ammunition on most live quarry in most situations, the only animal that MUST be shot with expanding ammo in England/Wales is Deer.

There is NO legal requirement to shoot anything else with expanding....just usually a good idea!!

Not sure about Scotland but think it is the same....Ireland may well have other ideas!!

In Scotland the bullet must be of a type designed to expand/deform on impact when stalking.

Hi sorry but in our area & other parts of scotland expanding bullet heads go on your ticket. The .224 heads ie 222/223/22.250/220swift etc come in 100 heads at a time so you need to be able to purchase/acquire 100 at one time & posses 120-160 etc at one time. Some of the bigger cals come in 50 heads at a time so you must have this condition on your ticket to buy the set amount at one time on your ticket but im ok i can get 200 heads to buy & keep 300 for my 25/06 & 22.250.
