ACEPACK 5
I know there's nothing like boasting about your own dogs, I have a wee 10 inch Foxwarren bitch who was bred soley for baying/bolting and dose it superbly, she is out of Digger3 and Classics, I have also a Russell dog which is out of old lines going back as 30 years line breeding he will if given the chance kill and draw if not you will dig to him, bred them two years ago and got six Bitch pups, i kept 1 and i gave 1 to my mate, and too be honest the pups have turned out to be crackers all Brains and heart, so there is good stuff out there, i will be breeding again this year the foxwarren Bitch again and a russell dog bred by Ken Gould sired by his dog Toby. wife 1
Finding a good black dog from good working stock seams easy looking on the post on herehow easy is it to find a good russel pup? good question, russels being ruined this day and age with so many breeding for cash, i know of a few russels which are used some below and some just above, 2 russels spring to mind which are great dogs below ground, 1 of which has been used on plenty of bitches and all pups have turned out handy tools, the other russel i have dug to myself on countless occasions, and the lad who got it keeps quiet about it and i been telling him to get it on a good bitch, back to your question then though, its not easy is the answer, finding a russel pup is easy, and finding some great looking russel pups is easy, only got to go to a show to see the same people putting there russels in year after year in working dog shows and there russels go back in the van until next summer, with there rosettes, lol, possible they might have a hard season with catching the odd blackbird in the dog run or maybe the odd hedge hog in the bottom of the garden hedge, and i have seen it myself, stood next to the ring, seen a dog come first in over all show, and when walking off seen lads go up to the owner of the dog asking if they going to breed out of that bitch or dog which ever it was that won the show, with no interest in the back ground of the dog or working capabilites,i only use my russels above ground for bushing rabbits, and ratting, have dug the odd fox here and there being shallow, some dont like russels being used for rabbits, each to there own, what would you be looking to use your dog for, rabbits, ground work? that is i take it you possibly looking? or is it just a good question, and it is a good one as well, answer being, its hard, lol, unless you have freinds which are reliable when they say they know of a good dog and bitch which are about to be bred and there is pups left, often the case with pats, or anything else is that before they are even born, pups are booked and names of people are on the waiting list, not usually the case with russels as you can see from picking up the yellow paper Quote Link to post
