midnight walker 8
walking is about tonning you would have to be doing some hard miles to prduce heavy muscle Quote Link to post
jannymangoes 0
i'd say it was less about muscles and more about joints. Quote Link to post

ulverston moocher 60
boxers don't do hardly any weightlifting due to muscle build up slowing them down I used to do a bit and got a right bollocking for body building whilst boxing dont know if this applies to dogs as well but there might be some logik in what your mate said Just a thought. Guest MY LAW
put it this way if you dont walk it it wont have any muscle and its joints will be a lot weaker.im a great belever in giving a pup plenty.which is more than most . Edited January 1, 2009 by MY LAW Quote Link to post
Attack Fell Terrier 864
I'm lead to believe that over doing exercise with a young dog can harm muscle tissues. Just take it easy with the pup whilst its young, how young is the pup? Quote Link to post

redeye jedi 39
its all about muscle fibres gents. there is 2 types slow twitch and fast twitch, fast twitch are shorter and thicker for more explosive power but dont give much staminer where as slow twitch are thiner and longer for more endurance but less explosive power. it all depends on how you train your dog as to what you get out of it. too much exercise wont "deform" your pup it will just develop different muscle mass. labsnlurchers 39
What breed is it? and just how much walking/mooching are we talking? Quote Link to post
redeye jedi 39
ulverston moocher boxers do lift weights, but they dont lift for mass. my uncle was the british and commonwealth light wealter weight champion in 1986. ive been boxing since i was 13 and yes i got told of for lifting weights but only because i was training the wrong way with them.
