Guest JohnGalway
Got a pair of Opticron BGA SE Imagic 8x42's for general use, very nice glass, good in low light and good compact-ish size for carrying around. They'll never be Leica, Swarovski etc but then again they didn't cost anything near that grade either. Well worth a look if nothing else Quote Link to post
mole trapper 1,694
SWAROVSKI 7X42 EL,S, cant be beat, will last a life time, i my pair, can not fault them, they maybe a bit pricey but worth every penny, And as they say "buy cheap, buy twice". Quote Link to post
SNAP SHOT 194
nikon monarch, 8 x 42 very good bino's for the money, not much difference in low light level's between them and the zesis range.......and my friend has 2 pairs of zesis, he rates them so high that he said if he lost the zesis these are what he would buy, to replace them..... why has he 2 pairs you may ask because hes flush and bought the pair with built in rangefinder.......... dicehorn 38
between leica and swarovski what is the difference...if any..and wheres the best place to buy from?? J, before you buy have a look through a pair of 8.5 x 42 ELs in Swarovski and if poss a couple of others at the same time. I have had my Swarovski's for 12 years (you need the best for stalking) and yes I have looked through many others and have always said hm ...nice binos to be polite. Yes they are expensive, however if you look after them, whether you are 25 or 55 they will see you to the end of your shooting hobby. To be able at distance to pick out (with clarity) the tips of a buck's antlers in a wooded area is worth putting your hand deep into your pocket. Peter Quote Link to post
sauer 2
as other have said.....go for what you can afford but stretch as far as you can when comes to optics...both binos & scopes!!! i have pair of steiner safari 8x42 roof prism binos and i was bout 290 quid and that was bout 2 years ago....very good for the price and rugged as hell!!! swarovski or leica geovids if you have the money.... my brother works a pair of geovids ( built in rangefinder) brilliant binos!!!!! sauer Quote Link to post

Not saying this is the best place to get Swarovski, but this will give you a guide as to new price http://www.sportsmanguncentre.co.uk/produc...es/pagestart/0/ You could see what comes up on Fleabay as I have seen them on there from time to time. martin 332
between leica and swarovski what is the difference...if any..and wheres the best place to buy from?? I tried both John, and I felt that the Leicas just didn't come up to the eyes as well as the Swarovskis, they are very close optically although I did pick the Swarovski 10 x 42 EL's and haven't been in the slightest bit disappointed..........martin. Sako.243 1
ok...so lets say money is not an object.....but i do not like the range-finder....... and wheres the best place to buy them from??? JD i would defo recommend Swarovski 8.5 x 42 EL's, Ive used them for the last 5 years and they allow you to send them back once a year to get a free lense service. They come back like new. Excellent at dusk....... Wouldnt pay any more than £1000 for them. ATB Sako Edited January 2, 2009 by Sako.243 Quote Link to post
